Business Districts
Sandy Springs has six business nodes that each has its own distinct character. These districts are home to hundreds of unique businesses, and are surrounded by vibrant neighborhoods.
City Springs District
With its bustling shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, the City Springs District draws a diverse range of visitors and locals alike, offering businesses unparalleled exposure to a high volume of consumers enjoying free concerts, a picnic on the green, or a show at the Performing Arts Center. This location has become the key driver for economic growth in our city center, so much so, that the city is exploring opportunities to expand the district.
North End
The North End of Sandy Springs is an area that is ripe for development. Current planning efforts focus on activating the district through mixed-use developments with options for housing, retail, office, and green space. It is also home to our city’s three golf courses, Steel Canyon (public) the Cherokee Country Club (private) and the Dunwoody Country Club (private). As we reimagine what the North End can become, there is an emphasis on supporting more local businesses and improving connectivity, including river access, for North End residents and businesses alike.
South End
Home to a wide variety of businesses, the South End’s location just below I-285 blends the transition from Sandy Springs to neighboring Buckhead and Brookhaven, providing convenient access to some of the highest income demographics in the U.S., and some of our most beautiful neighborhoods. Recent public works projects have improved safety and connectivity within the district, adding sidewalks, intersection improvements, and enhanced streetscaping.
Perimeter
Home to several of America’s largest companies, the Perimeter Office Market is the largest employment center in the southeast. This district provides a vibrant and connected live-work environment to both residents and employees. Additionally, the city has launched the Perimeter Small Area Plan to reimagine the Perimeter as a mixed-use district with high-quality housing, expanded retail and restaurant options, lush greenspace, bike paths and trails and other amenities to further enhance the quality of life for the residents and workers in the market.
Powers Ferry
The Powers Ferry area is the western gateway to the City of Sandy Springs with lovely residential neighborhoods and a small-scale retail, office and hospitality core along I-285. The Powers Ferry district borders the Chattahoochee River and includes spectacular natural resource areas, including National Park Service lands.
Medical District
The Sandy Springs Medical District is home to three top ranked hospitals - Northside, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - Scottish Rite Hospital and Emory St. Joseph’s - as well as thousands of physicians and medical professionals who serve our community, delivering some of the highest quality healthcare in the Southeastern United States.
